Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST), a national level professional Non-governmental Organization located in Pokhara, is emerged out as a result of the commitment displayed by development professionals nurtured by UMN supported Rural Development Center known as RDC, which devoted its 22 years in community development for the rural development through strengthening the socio-economic empowerment of the vulnerable community. Since its inception in 2003, NEST has been consistently involving in providing capacity development activities on various dimensions ranging from organization development, leadership development, community mobilization to income generating activities including agriculture, livestock and forestry to drinking water and sanitation. NEST has also stepped forward to undertake research and consultancy on its related and relevance areas. The accumulation of field based experiences on development-social-people dynamics. NEST has initiated community development activities in a partnership approach.
It was registered in District Administration Office(DAO), Kaski in 2059 and is affiliated to Social Welfare Council (SWC) in 2060. It has membership affiliation with NGO Federation, Kaski. NEST is member of Nepal Permaculture Group (NPG), and is working as its Western Regional Coordination Office.NEST is also a member of “Civil Society for Ppeace”, Pokhara.It has a regional office in Nepalgunj. Establishment of branch offices in other regions including Kathmandu is its future plan..
